The Landing Kitchen at The Ironworks in Bala Cynwyd
THE PHILADELPHIA CALLER PHILLY SUBURBS 13 MARCH 2021
BALA CYNWYD, PA — BE Hospitality, the newly established hospitality group from celebrated restaurateurs Fia Berisha (formerly Elements, Mistral) and Nicholas Elmi (Laurel, In the Valley), is pleased to announce the launch of its first concept, The Landing Kitchen, in partnership with the Penn Group.
Located at Ironworks in Bala Cynwyd, PA, The Landing Kitchen is an all-day cafe, kitchen, and garden bar. Located at 617 Righters Ferry Road in Bala Cynwyd, The Landing Kitchen will open its doors for the first time on March 11 at 8 AM and will operate Tuesday through Sunday from 8 AM – 4 PM.
The all-day cafe will serve light, bright and nourishing fare, delectable pastries plus fresh, seasonal juices, and bold coffee and espresso from Jersey City’s Modcup Coffee and La Colombe. Guests will have their pick of sweet and savory toasts, ranging from the Smoked Salmon Toast with pickled red onion, dill-caper cream cheese, and everything spice to the Almond Butter and Dried Fig Toast with vincotto. The all-day menu will also feature an array of sandwiches including a breakfast sandwich with black pepper-maple sausage, farm egg, American cheese, and salsa verde served on a toasted Merzbacher’s Philly Muffin; an unparalleled grilled cheese with thick-cut brioche, mild and sharp cheddar, and Lancaster butter (with luxe smoked ham and bowfin caviar add-on’s) and an elevated burger boasting double-stacked aged beef patties with house sauce on a Sweet Potato Roll. A robust offering of hearty grain bowls, salads, and vegetable-forward plates will round out the menu.
“This project is over a year in the making and we are elated to see it finally come to fruition. There’s never an easy time to open a new restaurant and 2021 is no exception, but we’re grateful to be surrounded by dedicated partners and an unrelenting team that saw this to the finish line,” explains Chef and Restaurateur Nicholas Elmi. “The Landing Kitchen is just one piece of the reimagined Ironworks experience on Philadelphia’s Main Line, which includes an incredible new hotel with robust amenities — a new gym, indoor saltwater pool, beautiful hiking and biking trails, and in a few more weeks, our new sister restaurant, Lark.”
Located along the Schuylkill riverside overlooking Manayunk, The Landing Kitchen boasts indoor and outdoor seating, separated by loading dock garage doors, with a spacious patio and fire pits that face stunning river views year-round. Designed by BE Hospitality and Penn Group, The Landing Kitchen was designed to be a fun and approachable destination for casual and tasty bites by day and cravable experiences by night. Pulling inspiration from modern Scandinavian design, the riverside location, and the history of the site, the design team created an industrial, yet welcoming cafe.
“We were able to have a lot of fun in the design of The Landing Kitchen,” says Fia Berisha. “We wanted to create a very versatile space that would transition from day to night seamlessly from a guest’s perspective, but also for events, in ways that highlight the beauty of Ironworks and the scenic views. We landed on garage-style doors that allow us to open up space, rich blue hues, and a lot of lush greenery to create synergy with the nature that surrounds us. In the end, I think we created a light and bright cafe that is cozy and inviting, both inside and out” Berisha explains.
Later this spring, The Landing Kitchen will roll out a playful and craveable evening menu for the whole family complete with a curated menu of snacks and small plates, seasonally focused entrees, and robust beer and wine menus. Other highlights will include interactive games for both adults and children, live music, and big-screen movies on the spacious and picturesque patio.
The Landing Kitchen, located at 617 Righters Ferry Road in Bala Cynwyd, will be open six days a week from 8 AM to 4 PM, with indoor and outdoor seating options available. Online ordering for pick-up and delivery will be available on www.thelandingkitchen.com during operating hours.
All necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the team, guests, and the greater community will be taken. Sanitizing stations will be available for guest and employee use. Staff and guests alike must wear masks except for when dining at their table and are asked to maintain social distancing throughout the restaurant and patio to ensure a safe and welcoming experience for all.
The Landing Kitchen’s sister restaurant, Lark, a coastal Mediterranean restaurant highlighting the abundance of the Mid-Atlantic, will be opening on the seventh floor of the reimagined Ironworks this spring, complete with a stunning terrace offering an expansive view of Manayunk and the river.
